I rescue, modernise and look after the critical systems your business runs on

When the software at the heart of your business starts to creak — the system everything depends on, that no one quite understands any more — I’m the senior, steady pair of hands you call.

Thirty years building business-critical software, and a habit, drawn from an earlier career in healthcare, of understanding the people and the work before touching the technology.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Most people find me at one of these moments. If one feels like yours, you’re in the right place.

The person who built it has gone. The developer, the agency, or the one member of staff who understood your system has left, retired, or moved on. It still runs the business — but now it’s a black box, and no one dares change anything.

You’ve inherited a system you’d love to bin. You’ve taken over, the software is creaking and loathed, and every instinct says rip it out and start again. Often that’s the most expensive mistake you can make — there’s years of hard-won business logic buried in there. Usually the smarter path is to steady it first, then evolve it. I’ll tell you honestly which it is.

It worked fine until you grew. What coped at five people is buckling at fifty. The cracks are showing, and the workarounds have workarounds.

The rules changed and your system can’t keep up. Regulation, compliance or reporting moved, and the software hasn’t.

The good news

From the inside, a struggling system feels like a crisis. From the outside, with thirty years of having seen it before, it’s almost always more fixable — and more affordable to fix — than it feels right now.

You won’t be sold a panic rebuild. We’ll find out what’s actually wrong, stabilise what’s fragile, and only then talk about where you want to take things next. You’ll understand every step, and you’ll know what it costs before you commit to anything.

What it’s like to work with me

I listen first. Before any talk of solutions, I want to understand how your business actually works and where it hurts. Most of the value is in getting that right.

I’ll tell you the truth. Including when not to spend money — when a rebuild is a trap, or when a small change solves a big problem. I’d rather be your trusted hand for years than sell you something you don’t need.

No surprises. You’ll always know the plan and the price before work starts.

Who I help

  • Specialist businesses running bespoke or ageing systems they depend on, with no senior technical person in-house.
  • Mission-led and compliance-heavy organisations that need a dependable, long-term technical partner rather than a faceless supplier.
  • Stretched technical leaders who need a senior, self-sufficient pair of hands on the hard problems.

A good place to start

If something’s hurting, the simplest first step is a Discovery & Roadmap — a short, fixed-price piece of work where I get to the bottom of the problem and give you a clear, costed plan. No obligation to go further, and the plan is yours to keep.
